| Epic Dawn: Sealed Pack Tournament Tournement Hosted and Suggested by Don Whitehorse
If you're up with current Yu-Gi-Oh news, you've surely heard of the new product designed for sealed pack play--Battle Pack: Epic Dawn. Never heard of sealed pack play? Here's how it works...you get a certain number of packs, and your job is to build a smaller-size deck with only the cards you pull. Though there are some variations, that's basically what sealed pack play is.
Sealed pack tournaments test your skill of being able to make decks out of what you get in your packs. But due to the random fashion of real packs, things can easily get out of hand if someone pulls good cards. Let's say you're at an Order of Chaos sneak peek and some guy pulls 2 Dragonfly, a Hornet, and a playset of Centipede. You can basically guarantee who's gonna win, right? You might not have even pulled anything that could have potentially gotten around a "monstrous" 1600 ATK Centipede. You might know every card in the set and their rarities so you know what might show up more than another. This leads to unbalance, so the capability of one's deck usually depends on luck.
But what would happen if each pack was specifically designed to give you powerful cards that worked by themselves, putting you on a relatively equal playing level with the other players, yet had enough cards in it to provide a large variety of deck choices to mix up the format? This is where OUR sealed pack play comes in...and Vile and I are planning Dark World Academy's very first SEALED PACK TOURNY!!!
HERE ARE THE RULES FOR THIS TOURNY. READ THEM.
You will receive 12 5-card e-packs when you register. You are to build a deck ONLY using these cards. If you are caught using a card other than what is provided, then you will be disqualified with no warnings whatsoever. The deck that you build must contain EXACTLY 40 CARDS--NO MORE, NO LESS. This does not include the Extra Deck. You may NOT have a Side Deck. When you get your cards, you have 72 hours to build a deck. If you cannot, you are disqualified. This is a tournament that is supposed to open you up to more cards that you would not normally use. Therefore, please read what your cards do. I can understand rule misunderstandings, but cheating will result in a warning. Four cumulative warnings result in disqualification. Before each duel, each combatant must show me their decks. Each duel is fought in a 2 out of 3 format.
Though we haven't established rules yet, I've come up with a general guideline for cards. Please follow these guidelines when suggesting a card. - A monster MAY be part of an archetype, but it must be able to function relatively by itself within that archetype. For example, you can't suggest Gravekeeper's Chief, since it requires Gravekeepers. Gravekeeper's Watcher, however, requires no other cards of its archetype to function, so it's eligible for entry. This means that Spells and Traps that support specific archetypes are not allowed. - Cards that can RELATIVELY function by themselves are allowed, but cards that DEPEND on others to be of any real use are not allowed. Let's go with...Arcana Force EX - The Light Ruler. Sure, you technically need monsters to use it, but they aren't specific, and nothing says you can't get out 3 monsters to use for it. Cards like Rescue Rabbit, however, would not be allowed, since it specifically requires you to have normal monsters (you might not pull any) to be of any use whatsoever. - Absolutely NO SYNCHRO MONSTERS. If you pull one and no Tuners, then it's a waste of a card slot, and this sealed pack is aiming to prevent that entirely.
Prizes!!!

2nd Place: Custom Signature, done by Vile. +75 EXP
3rd Place: 7000 D-Cash +50 EXP
